Quiet Hands Make Great Listening, February 27, 2003

Dick Summer's recordings are undeniably mesmerizing: storytelling at its best. He uses his voice to bring us into his world, and our ears respond by making his world ours. He has the ability - like all great storytellers - to simultaneously conjure an environment out of thin air, and also to make us feel at home there. The enchanting quality of his stories cannot be overemphasized: listeners are engaged with a voice that somehow soothes and overwhelms us at once. His tone is warm and sincere, and he responds to the demands that modern life makes on our capacities to feel and to desire. If you appreciate respite from the dutiful administrations and obligations of everyday living, Dick Summer is a master storyteller ready to tap into the importance of love and memory in our inner life.

You are instantly transfered into a mystical world of romance and passion. You have arrived at a place in your mind, that has never been visited. Within this space, there is only you and your lover, there to feel contentment and the roar of the fire within. You know that this is a place that you will have to return to many times................

It was so nice to hear this guys voice again. Dick Summer used to grace late-night Boston radio back when radio had grace. His sensual and hypnotic talkes are wonderful little windows giving deep and warm views into our inner lives. These are really enjoyable, brief mental vacations. Quiet Hands is almost like finger painting for your heart and soul.

Relaxing and fun "Hands-on" meditation!
I ordered this on a whim, not knowing if I would enjoy it, as it sounded rather romance-novel-like, which it is. However, it is also charming and relaxing and tiptoes around the edges of fantasy, tickling your imagination, without really intruding. Listening to the samples does give a very good sense of the tone. (Target audience definitely seems to be women!) I thought this might kind of creep me out, but instead, it is quite pleasant. My only complaint is a bit too much emphasis (for me) on self-esteem issues--one can enjoy the touch of quiet hands without needing a build-up too. But overall, I enjoyed it.

The sounds of affirmation through intimacy.
If massage had a voice, it would be Dick Summer's. This is an enchanting work of affirmation and relaxation for more than a target audience. In sum and in part, it traces body and emotions in a way that allows intimacy to flower as romance.
This CD is a necessary journey through very personal terrains, each one with its own theme of passion, comfort, validation, and within which are embedded so many maps for bringing and keeping partners to the greatest depths of intimacy--- those "private, secret places within." Sharing Quiet Hands with my wife has helped me help her to "touch memories back into feelings," while reminding me that this
level of caring attention need not flourish only during courtships.
