ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dick Weissman has been described as a "five string banjo master" by Dirty Linen, and the original instrumental music on this album includes a considerable amount of improvisation, on woodwind instruments, banjo, guitar and fiddle. Dick's songs have been recorded by numerous artists, and his songs and instrumental music have appeared on the NBC-TV show My Name is Earl,
BBC Television and the Biography Channel. His music has been favorably reviewed in numerous periodicals, including Sing Out!,
Bluegrass Unlimited, Ancient Victories, and the Banjo Newsletter.

The instrumentals and songs include references to various other musicians and musical styles, ranging from impressionistic banjo and guitar pieces, blues banjo and guitar work, and humorous snippets of jazz guitar, Motown and Nashville flavored instrumentals, ragtime and even Japanese music. Two of the songs (new Homes On The Range and Tonight I'll Do A Benefit For me, are satirical comments on contemporary life, while the song I Am An Officer is about the tragic life of a homeless man on the streets of New York City, and a female police officer's attempt to bring dignity into his life.
