ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Songwriter, Didi Favreau (aka Dee Dee Favreau), pulls out her cache of forgotten 1970 tunes, records them and throws them to the four winds.

Thoughtful and sometimes clever lyrics roll out your brain for examination as the operatic, mac & cheese vocal delivers a vivid portrayal of your daily effort to survive and be a little more than "okay". It's a heart felt struggle with sweet harmonies.

"It all began after I returned to New Orleans from my nine weeks of Katrina evacuation in New York City. I gathered up all my stuff and moved into a little cottage on Lesseps Street and as I was unpacking I came across a thin letter-sized box, like you used to see for carbon paper. Inside were sheets of music that I'd written decades ago. I vaguely remembered them. In all the many moves I had made from city to city to town, I had carried this box around not opening it until now. I counted sixteen songs -- all written around 1970.

"An ex-boyfriend had some tapes of the songs and he sent them to me from California. Oh, yes, these were some pretty interesting tunes and I liked the lyrics. Gradually I began to recollect my connection with them. I felt that I was supposed to record them, like they were waiting in that thin box for the right moment to be set free and that moment was now -- 2007. I couldn't help myself; I became compelled to resuscitate these songs through the wonders of Pro Tools.

"An intense year later, sort of like being on an extended cattle drive, I had six of the songs corralled, so I decided to release them on CD. Thus VAGUE RECOLLECTIONS - PART I."
