'sufferupachuckle’ was recorded in 1996 at Mad Dog Studios in Burbank, California. It was engineered and produced by Dusty Wakeman. It was the easiest album I’ve ever made, no problems at all (thanks Dusty and everybody). David Halley on lead guitar, Skip Edwards on keyboards, David Hayes played bass with Jim Christi on drums. Gia Ciambotti and Anthony Crawford sang backup vocals and Mike Tempo percussed. We rehearsed a couple days before we recorded and everything you hear, except the backup vocals and percussion parts, is exactly what we played in the studio in real time.

Album Notes
‘sufferupachuckle’ is one of my favorite albums of all we’ve made. Black Dog Blues and The Relative Health of Your Soul Inside are songs I call during just about every band show and Dangerous is one of my all time favorites. New Earth Suit is special to me because it came within days of the birth of my first child. People request Heroes (maybe) a lot even though this album has been out of print for almost two decades, same with Walk on Lake George Lake George recounts a magical experience my cousin Jimmy and I had one snow covered Christmas night in Indiana. The mysterious Whistlin’ in the Dark, I’ve always dug too. There are a lot of songs on this album that are ‘gift songs’; songs the Mystery What simply passed down to me and all I had to do was scribble them out like a stenographer. I’m real glad to have this CD released again. It now begins with Askin’ for Apples which features the late, wonderful David Lindley on drums and ends with You’re in Love with You, which was originally recorded for More Songs from My Cool Life.
