Album Notes
Dark, melancholy and hauntingly epic melodies interwoven with city grit and prowess into the human easel of emotional experience, Dirty Elegance’s debut, Finding Beauty In The Wretched, takes its seat at the seminal table, innovatively capturing the depth of the human condition while maintaining a non-genre specific consistency. Passionately expressing a bountiful palette of emotional experience, Dirty Elegance introduces himself to the world with seeds of timelessness and gifts of audible ecstasies... Finding Beauty In The Wretched is not to be overlooked...

"Never really had a handle on Trip Hop but if this is it, then I want it ALL. New York based Dirty Elegance are amazingly unsigned. The modern dilemma of 24/7 rubbish on the radio/charts/tv while unsigned gems like DE remain undiscovered is a tragedy of 9/11 proportions."

“your music takes me beautiful places.... keep doing that, please..”

"Sometimes I'm amazed at some of the things that come in the mail. Yes I know we're a hard rock and metal webzine but sometimes there come gems that must be listened to and promoted. In comes Dirty Elegance from the most awesome city in the U.S., New York City. He is an artist who defies labels but who is considered to be trip-hop. He basically observes the human condition and makes social commentary through his deflightful musical ambitions. It's not so much a lyrical piece of work as much as it's a wall of sound. Music that creates whatever atmosphere he's looking to create whether that be a dark one or a haunting one. Whatever it may be, you can manage to look at the ugliest elements of the human experience and find elegance and class and he seems to do this quite well. This is definitely a record that you have to listen to several times. Something that makes you think and makes you open your mind. Anything that attracts my attention to that scale needs to be spread around."

“incendiary, absolutionary. tastes good”

“I've been looking for something good to listen to for a long time now, never thought something good would find me. This is exactly what I've been looking for...you have no idea.”

“You are the Best in your music direction!!! aaa! So beautiful tracks! I didn't hear more ingeniously!!! Thanks so much to you! I'll be waiting for a new album :)”

“Damn good music!!!”

“your music is beautiful.”

“Music sad and romantic... It is pleasant to me!”

"I'm astonished by your instrumental sound. I really like what I've just heard"

“simply amazing”

"I like this music climates very very much, as well as your photos! Today we had snow in Poland, and your music fits like nothing else :) Warm Greetings!"

“your tracks are killin man - bravo!”

“Wow Great album!!! Im really lovin it...”

“Oh my God!!! I love your music :D”

"These songs are painstakingly constructed, they are instrumental, they use samples but are not monotonous. They have roots in electronica like MM2 but lean maybe more towards trance and soundscapes. As an intro listen to 'The Scrivener' which combines DE's lyrical integrity and production techniques with dreamy but entrancing keyboard backing. It's a stunning piece of work which we heartily recommend."

“so admirable...i'm sure, everybody who hear your music at least once, will listening that hereinafter”

“I'm always in AWE when I listen to your music.”

“Can't get enough!”

“Excellent music you got here, keep on making it!”

“I heard them for the first time today and all I can say is I am definitely buying this album.”

“Masterpiece :-)”

" very nice -

very creative, nice undertones and bass lines to even out the scenery... love the use of the dirty bass, you have a unique sounds, reminds me of the movie fight club, i would like to hear that girl sing some words to match the tone of the song titles, and song sound! ...very creative. different and post modern..."

“ Relaxed music for the soul “

“greater than great. Wirrok is masterpiece, its so....beautiful”

“more than marvelous! Wirrok i simply in my mind all the time!!!”

"Leaves of Autumn" = pure beauty distilled into sound.”

"Dirty Elegance brings it on strong with the exquiste and un-relenting ethno trip-hop sounds from their solid release "Finding Beauty in the Wretched". This solid release blends raw and edgy trip-hop beats with melodious keyboard stylings to deliver up music which will move you physically and emotionally."

“Very good music! I proclaimed (three years ago) that IDM would gain momentum and join the different styles of music, taking a growing number of fans along with it. And for the first time, after having that thought, it now proves to be the case (needless to mention Thom Yorke's solo album), which utilized straight saturated IDM ... Dirty Elegance combines such interesting areas of trip-hop, IDM, and instrumental, complementing the beauty and aesthetics of this album . A mysterious, and sometimes monotonic tone is encountered when listening, with beautiful vocals periodically interwoven amongst the superbly distorted sounds and atmospheres”

“This album was just placed on my list of best albums of 2007.”

“Moreover, it affects us, the striking beauty, attractive harmony, the puzzle is the probe, leading it to the outside without disregard of its interior.”

“This disc does not live only in the trip-hop environment, but dwells somewhere between Massive Attack and Portishead, well embedded in the Sigur Rós, The Album Leaf, if I may...”

I must tell my friends about you..
keep going!!
greetings from Cracow :)"

“downloaded ur tunes straight away. suits the dark and rainy autumn that is outside my window in sweden. leaves of autumn; nice to hear piano and guitars with breaks and tranquility. in class with quantic”

“Wow, f****ing wicked!!!
You sound amasing...loving it!”

"a harmonious blend of gently spilled IDM and trip-hop, so beautiful and moving, the birth of a new day on the planet Earth, so few notes, but only from this feat accomplishing such graceful music..."

“wow man best cup o tea iv heard in ages
that was class a bit like midfield general / dj shadow... brilliant!!!”

“it's not only earcatching. But it's absolutely cool, and only because it's giving a look into your depth.”

“really wonderful music, you're the best.”

“Debut album from New York based upstart, Dirty Elegance, is a must-hear. A new Paradigm in music composition that defies all genres and delivers consistently. Reviewers throw around the word "seminal" like it ain't no thing, but for once it's use is justified. This album is nothing less...”

This album is amazing. Every track is brilliant.
The album is amazing, every track is excellent.

Simply amazing, hard to describe in words--an emotional journey for the ears. The first time I heard it, I couldn't believe this was an unsigned artist. Just when I thought this genre was playing itself out, this thing comes along and shows how to really do it right.

From another dimension!!
When you hear this music, you enter in another dimension. From the fist time I heard it at SmoothLounge.com, I Knew I must buy it (at CDBaby of course), and that it will be in a preferent place in my music collection...

An amazing journey through intelligent vibrations!
This CD is seriously one of the most inspirational albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. It's ambient, yet trip-hop, electro soul attitude flows through each track like clock work. Its a magical ride to say the least. This album is a must have. DIRTY ELENGANCE brings it home strong!!

Listen only when you are ready to see your soul staring back at you!
Wow! I am floored that a single cd can encapsulate so much emotion... it's a thing of beauty. Truly. I have long been a fan of trip-hop and lounge music as individual genres, but this cd seamlessly blends both. I listen to it when writing, when cooking, when creating, when dreaming. It is appropriate in all of these situations and more! Much love and thank you for creating this amazing contribution!

Purely AMAZING!! From Start to Finish; Track 1 - 19 you are taken in, taken aback from the ambient sound of Dirty Elegance. Trip-hop at its finest. Finding Beauty In The Wretched is truly a story telling experience.

LISTEN - Very Inspiring, Very moving, Very Emotional!!!
Very inspiring! I imported it to my ipod, threw on the headphones, took a walk and got caught up in the trip. Very moving! Got in my car, popped the CD in and notice I was just going with the flow. Very emotional! I say to everyone, if you want to truly take a ride/walk, LISTEN to Finding Beauty In The Wretched.

great music speaks for itself =]
ah, myspace. where the crappy emo/non-emo/whatever bands hope to one day become famous.
one of the things i am SO thankful for from that site is finding amazing artists, such as DE and Anahata Sacred Sound Current [also available on cdbaby! =)]. what attracted me initially was the presentation of the cd, the artwork present around the whole project. it's what caught my eye. but then the music was just the "seal" of it all and it didn't take me long to decide i must own this cd. it's an amazing blend of sounds and makes for a unique piece of art. i totally love the r&b and up-tempo feel that some tracks have, such as in "eternal infamy", "leaves of autumn", and "frozen in time." i love the whole sound of "blind eye" as well; that beginning piece is just amazing to me. "eventide" reminds me of some linkin park-ish track i may have heard elsewhere, but minus the screaming in my ear, thank you very much..."accouchment" and "dark pockets" are slow jams that add a nice variety to the compilation as well. finally, the closing track "down the hole" is my FAVORITE DE track and i only wish it could have been made into a longer piece... just when i get into it with that strong beat, it's all over...waaaa!!! it's one of those track that i wish would never end!!! the background sound effects and the rain are just amazing to me; no wonder i love playing this cd when it's storming outside!
give this cd a listen; you will be amazed! isn't it time to bring REAL music back into the mainstream?!
yes it is!!!
enjoy!! =]
