ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Boston has never been known as a hot bead of Country, but that may well change. Former Rippopotamus drummer turned Producer Rich Gordon (BMA ’96, Phoenix Readers Poll 2001 winner) and his co-producer Steve Markarian, have uncovered a diamond in the rough. The Dixie Prix (pronounced Dee Hee Pree) may well turn the Boston Music scene on it’s ear (or possibly it’s head if they’ve been drinking).
Somehow this gifted quartet has escaped the notice of nearly everyone in the city (except their neighbors) - but no more. With their first album out on 2 Funky Int’l Records and now available at CD Baby there are crowds who don’t even know they are waiting for them. As Mr. Dylan put it - The times they are a-changing.

“I didn’t know how great they were, or how grating” - Tex’s Mom

Beatles of Country Music!!??
Okay, I love The Beatles. I have both of their albums.

When I heard the Prix claim to be The Beatles of Country music I was put off as well as excited.

Then I heard this cd.

Beatles of Country Music?-------BULLSHIT! This band is WAY BETTER THAN THE BEATLES!!!!!

The one star is for The Beatles and their Crappy crapalog of music! ......POW!

This cd rocks!

Love it!
This was a gift and to be honest I didn't know quite what to make of it at first. The song titles made me laugh and even roll my eyes but the music wraps around them very nicely. I love Doublewide and my girlfriend wants Nuthin' Beats My Man played at her wedding! LOL.
I'd like to hear more from this band.

Beatles Schmeatles!
I must say that when I heard this band's boast of being "The Beatles of Country Music" I was a bit apprehensive, but after listening to their music, well.......I'm a believer!
Prounounced Dee-Hee-Pree starts with a burp and a piss shiver (I think) and builds from there! The cds central theme of betrayal and loss carry throughout and nice touches like the aeolian cadences in Doublewide underscore the brilliance that lies just underneath this music.
The real test was when I played it in my car. The cds central theme of life on the road and Americana made my drive end much too soon. I'm trading my Beatles cds in this week...hopefully for a mono version of Prounounced Dee-Hee-Pree.
I highly recommend this cd!

Beatles my ass!
I've been following this band for awhile and waiting for the cd for ages. It was worth it! Indeed, The Dixie Prix are Country musics answer to the Beatles "if the Beatles were around today and sounded exactly like the Dixie Prix playing these songs..." Sweetie Pie is still stuck in my head as is She put The Fire Out (but the woods still there)!
This is an easy to listen to collection of songs. Beatles my ass!

LOL
Been enjoying this one since I got it. If you listen casually it sounds like straightforward old school Country music. Good humor, nice hooks.

F' The Beatles!
I'm a country girl from Texas and you know what The Beatles have done for me? NOT A DAMN THING!!!
The Dixie Prix on the other hand have given me this fine collection of country songs chaulk full of heartland values that I can actually relate to. Not some British crap written by British people for other British people to mull over while they sip bullshit tea and eat sandwiches made of cucumbers. A cucumber sandwich!!!!??? What the hell is that? Pussies.
Pronounced Dee Hee Pree is MUSIC FOR AMERICANS!
I have enjoyed this cd more with each listen! It speaks to me as good music should. Real music...not British music.
F' The Beatles!!!
