Album Notes
The term djesben appears in Elinor Horne’s Javanese-English dictionary meaning ‘jazz band’
and comes from the early 1900’s. Djesben was born in 1999 as experiment in playing jazz
on instruments not heard in the traditional jazz combo; we adopted the name after only
a few public outings. This spirit of experimentation and improvisation has propelled our
musical journey ever since. We are grateful to share Djesben's music with you and hope that
you enjoy every note!
