ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Reviewer: Tamara Turner, CD Baby
A CD Baby favorite, David M. Bailey presents this 2-CD anthology of the best of his work from the past 8 years. Writing from his life experiences of having overcome a terminal condition, the spirit of determination and hope is at the root of his songs. His insight into life weaves through his lines, buoying his messages upon his vocals. And his voice- tattered and strained on the surface and yet extending deeper beneath a heart of knowing and believing- carries a unique, wistful warmth. This is some of the best adult male folk pop you will find within and beyond our little indie world.

david is a walking songwriting singing miracle. After being told he had a brain tumor and would be dead in several months, he quit his corporate career and returned to his love of music. ...That was an 8 years ago.

He spent those years recording 9 albums of original material in support of what has become a full-time nationwide touring schedule (39 states and counting). He's won numerous songwriting awards (including the prestigious Kerrville NewFolk) and his story has been featured on national TV (48 hours, 60 Minutes).

Hope, the Anthology, is a triumphant compilation of his most inspiring and uplifting songs from his current recordings. This 2-disc set also features 4 new songs, including "Life Goes On!" This project is a melodic masterpiece of endurance and grace, showcasing the very best of what it means to keep on keeping on.

2008 Update:
david is well-known as a 12 survivor of a malignant brain tumor that was supposed to have killed him in 6 months. His amazing story of hope and survival has been shared with and inspired thousands of fans all over the world. If you are reading this here on CD baby, you are also learning that david is a prolific songwriter and keeps a relentless tour schedule across the nation and the world in support of his multiple CD’s. The more you get to know his music, the more you will learn of the many sides of david: survivor, yes, but also poet, philosopher, theologian, comedian, activist, husband, father, friend, and lover of all things coffee. This Presbyterian, passionate, fully reformed, liberally conservative peace-loving hippie-folksinger will wow you exotic guitar licks, but also inspire you with words you only wish you’d written yourself. Take the time to browse, listen, buy a couple CD;’s, visit his website, www.davidmbailey.com, and odds are before long, he’ll be in your area and you’ll be a fan of the music and the man. Thanks for stopping by – Keep on!!

The variety and scope of songs under the title of hope keep my ears tuned in to all David Bailey has to tell me. I think of my friends and acquaintances who need to hear these messages, to laugh and cry along with me.

David's best album so far!
HOPE is the collection we've been waiting for -- the culmination of david's best work so far. david joyfully embraces the talents he has been given and freely shares his survivor's spirit with us in this soaring anthology. The husky sweetness of his voice reminds us to cherish the laughter and never surrender to life's sorrow. When he sings of hope, you know he means it. If you buy only one album this year, let it be HOPE. It will touch your heart.

David Bailey's music provides daily hope to me and my daughter.
This anthology is played at my daughter's house daily. She had surgery for a glioblastoma last April and has had many ups and downs. We each have our favorite songs as we go about our daily living. We hope to see him in Iowa City, Iowa next spring.

The Angels Are Sippin' and Dancin'
A project david has wanted to materialize for some time is finally here! It represents *Eight* years of survival and hope! This collection includes All That Matters, a gem from david's initial (now OOP) cd's. Disc 2 is particuarly powerful with the addition of Life Goes On & On The Way to Nashville (a quarky little tune reminding us to look both ways before crossing!) Anthology is a resounding perspective on living and the passion we should all embrace in our lives. Keep On!

Reflects God's Light!
Great job helping me through my own recovery from brain tumor removal but the HOPE lyrics are for anyone who has ever suffered pain or illness, felt fear or determination, sorrow or triumph, been lost or found, loved or lonely, needed more peace and less anger. Guess that's the entire human race! How can I keep from singing?

Fantastic! Fabulous!
I received this CD at the time when my dad was in the later days of his life. This collection of songs has sustained me as I am going through this very difficult time. I was introduced to David's talents this January, when I got to hear him at a conference. Since then, I am such a fan! His lyrics and music is so inspirational. His talent is just remarkable. I have given this CD to others. And recommending it to everyone.

An inspiration for all people facing the terrorfying brian tumor world.
My friend, Carol Cox, sent me David's CD after I told her that I had found his story on the internet while surfing for information. David and I have the same fabulous Neuro-surgeon, Dr Allan Friedman of Duke, NC. I came home yesterday after successful surgery and can't tell you what an inspiration David and his music are to me. He is truly a special person and I believe he was put on earth to help others. Sincerely, Virginia Dean
