My thanks to Goose, Tony, Wayne, all the session players... plus the many people behind the scenes who helped make this possible.
Memories linger of the ones who in my life's journey helped create these songs, some by being pickers and players, some by being lovers and friends.
To paraphrase a Rod Stewart classic:
“Every song tells a story, don't it.”
Doc Henderson hails from the great state of Georgia. Growing up as a Baptist preacher's kid with a church pianist mom, he was steeped in the great southern church classics from Amazing Grace to I'll Fly Away. There wasn’t a single hymn he didn’t seem to know by heart.
Then as a young medical student – influenced by singer-songwriters like Dylan, Buffett and Jackson Browne – Doc began creating his own unique songs. Times spent in Nashville, London, Liverpool and Paris, along with a stint as a ship's doctor in the Caribbean, nurtured the creative blend of melodies you’ll enjoy here.
But as important as the music is for Doc, even more special are the words of every verse. Words forged in love and loss. Personal stories expressing the heartfelt observations of life. And lessons from the teacher that is travel along with those learned in the cauldron that is travail.
Listen... enjoy... and take this musical journey with Doc from church pew to the hangover blues.
