ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"John Simpson Kirkpatrick" was written by Paul McGee, Neil McCann and John Littrich of Dogmatic Music as a tribute to the ANZAC soldiers of World War One, and, in particular, the subject of the song, John Simpson Kirkpatrick, better known as "Simpson" or "the man with the donkey". This song was inspired by the story of Charlie Werner, a relative of John's wife, Jane. Charlie Werner was recorded to be the last man carried upon Simpson's donkey across the rocky slopes of Gallipoli before Simpson was tragically killed. This song is a tribute to not only the heroism of John Simpson Kirkpatrick, but to all soldiers who have paid the ultimate price fighting for their country. Dogmatic Music have written three other songs in tribute of ANZAC soldiers: "Lest We Forget" and "Australia Remembers" (both top 10 ASA Competition songs in 2010 in the "Australia" category) and "Mothers' Arms". These songs can also be downloaded from CD Baby and are a great educational resource for schools and also great for use in ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day Ceremonies. The ANZAC kit which includes a word doc ceremony, moving images, lyrics and score can be found at the Dogmatic Music website. Lest We Forget.
