Mauritania

by Doktan Kotawa

Mauritania takes its wealth in the typical sounds of West African traditional instruments like Hoddou, Tidinit, flute peule or calebasses... This is a very diversified album just like the cultural mosaic of Mauritania.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Mauritania" is the result of a wide international collaboration, several talented musicians from Mauritania, Senegal, Mali and Belgium. Several beautiful personalities brought to this album a rich instrumental dimension : Guéladjo Ba on the guitar, Ousmane touré on the bass, Ahmed Fofana with Kamengoni, Ousmane Gangué and Saidou Sow on vocals, Jéli Mamadou Dramé on the Kora …
Mauritania also takes its wealth in the typical sounds of West African traditional instruments like Hoddou, Tidinit, flute peule or calebasses... This is a very diversified album just like the cultural mosaic of Mauritania represented by its various ethnic groups: Moors, Fulanis, Wolofs and Soninkés. By the admixture of its tones and its directories like those of the Lawbés (loggers) with the song Guilly, the soubalbés (fishermen) with the song Malissadjo or foulbés (pastors) with Fouta, Mauritania offers us a range of styles and very different West-African rythms .This album reminds the world of the childhood, its dreams and its warm spontaneity.
