Album Notes
This is a weird album. The instrumentation ranges from turntables to bass clarinet, and "Palladium" has a chicken on it (I'm not joking). People seem to like different stuff on this album, but maybe check out "Wretch", "Too Late", "If I" and "Palladium" first.

I love this!
I love this CD. Alex's songs are so inventive and I don't have anything else like this in my CD collection. Perfect driving, dancing, jogging, hanging out around the house music.

Funky, soulful and different in a good way!
This album shows that Alex has a style all his own. His funky beats are mixed with unusual melodies that are sometimes mysterious, sometimes in-your-face, and always enjoyable. If you're looking for a fresh, new sound, this is it!

You owe it to yourself to get this album!
Pendulum and Wretch are definately tops. This is one of my favorite albums again for the variety of songs and song styles. Each song is a stand alone treat. Finally a fun album with clever lyrics from an intelligent songwriter who knows the ins and outs of his craft.

spectacular Scott Bakula
Excerpted from All Music Guide review:
Dolan’s many talents are best evidenced on the album highlight “Smoking Gun,” a poignant, honest cautionary tune about AIDS that neither sugarcoats the issue nor places blame. The smart rhyme scheme and beautiful chord progression on the refrains exhibit a conciseness and focus that one wishes the rest of the album offered. ... Owe Me One Cannoli presents Alex Dolan as a spirited performer and intelligent songwriter, even if its Star Wars-punned title makes him out to be more of a pop prankster than he is. With dips into hip-hop, ska-lite, jam-band and outright rock territory, it’s not a terribly focused debut, but for sophistication and individuality, it’s one of the more inspired ones of the ‘00s.

Wretch and Goodnight are brilliant. The cd is a pleasure to listen to and has been listened to over and over for the past 5 or 6 years. It is as fresh today as it was when I first heard it.

a vernacular spectacular
a wonderful mix of funk, hip-hop, soul, jazz and folk (for lack of a better term). if there is such a thing, alex has mastered it. it's rare to find someone who sings with passion these days, so to a great musician and even better person, thanks.
