ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is a pretty odd set of songs, ranging from world beat to rock to folk. I'd recommend just having a listen and seeing which ones you like, maybe starting with "Humbled" and "This is Older than America".

You can find more info on the music and on me at www.alexdolan.com, including lyrics and notes on the songs.

This is one of those CDs that you put in your CD player and it stays there long after the first listen. I've always loved Alex's music and Americana is no exception. I am at a loss to describe his varied style. Suffice it to say that it every time I listen to it I hear something new and interesting. Keep the music coming Alex!

Ipadalicious! At the top of my playlist!
Alex Dolan's rich, textured voice is as distinctive as Macy Gray's. His music shows the influence of reggae, rap and tribal beats. I'm a lyric girl and this album does not disappoint- there's poetry there. Mostly I like it because I can move my head and smile.

Everything he does is MAGIC
Americana is a winner!
It's a cornucopia of the best of a few of my favorite musical genres. Music is universal and Americana takes us on a journey of world beats, rock, funk soul, punk and reggae. It's addictive and the sounds are infectious. BUY this album!!!

This is not a good album..
...this is an exceptional album. There are the classic styles of Mr. Dolan, carried over a number of continental influences, and rolled in funky style to put on your plate an ecclectic, exciting, and electrifying array of sounds and vocals. It is as imaginative as it is creative, and you will find yourself listening to tracks over and over again to discover things that you missed the first few times around. It's even obvious that the singers and musicians are having fun while they play - this is, without a doubt, the most contagious album I have heard in a number of years, and is recomendable to anyone who has forgotten that music is about fun and expression - two things this album will heap on you.

Americana Urbana
I was surprized to hear an opening tune with latin influences only to be surprised by the next track and each following with diverse influences from funk to folk. Each song seems to be born in a kind of diversity in an urban environment in America.

Alex's word-smith-ability, microphone skills and choruses-with-attitude tie it all together into a cohesive album worthy of anyones collection. Great tunes!

Best Yet
This is Alex's best album ever. He adds a new level of complexity to the lyrics and the instrumentals ... at the same time it's totally catchy and fun. Loved this album ... everyone should own it. Seriously.

Down especially strong
I especially liked Down. Dolan's vocals are solid, as are his back-up vocalists.

Get Up and Shake Your Ass
This is Alex's best album yet! I especially love the first track - and if you don't start spontaneously busting a move when you listen to it, I will be really surprised.

every track on 'americana' makes me want to get up and move, groove, and hug peo
while each track is vastly different from the next, they share a gratifying common thread that ties them together: they blend unique musical influences effortlessly and stylishly. "humbled" especially showcases alex's ability to mix diverse genres into one cohesive (and fun... and edgy... and inspiring!) package. highly recommend you check it out! and tell your friends. i couldn't imagine any of them would be anything less than psyched to do so.

Great songs for listening and dancing.
Imagine a triangulation between Ani DeFranco, Prince and Pearl Jam. Or Jack Johnson, Gnarles Barkley and Eminem. You are now approaching the realm of Alex Dolan's Americana. Every track is infused with get-out-of-your-seat beats, rhymes of lyrical literature, and grooves that make you shout, "Gimme some backup singers and a bull horn!"

Immerse yourself in Americana, you won't be disappointed.
