ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Don Shirley has been lauded for his incomparable sound, rich imagination, and breathtaking skill to move and liberate his audience while honoring the rigors of musical form. Upon hearing Don Shirley, Igor Stravinsky declared: "his virtuosity is worthy of the gods." On another occasion, he stated, "...Don Shirley has the ability to communicate exquisite variations of various themes....beautifully wrought tone poems. "Sarah Vaughan once commented, "...the most glorious sense of shading I have ever heard," while Nat King Cole placed him in a league with Horowitz and Rubinstein.
