ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Don McNatt is known in Nashville for his songwriting, and his local television program, but in the Early 90's he was in Los Angeles, playing venues like the legendary Palomino Club with the SMPLZAT Band. This band is what makes this album worth bringing back today. Steel guitar work was done by Leo LeBlanc. He has passed away, and this is one of the latest Albums cut by this recognized genius on that instrument. He is well complemented by James Mason on lead guitar. All of Jame's affects, are in his hands. If you like hearing what a pure guitar, minus electronic affects, can render, you'll love hearing James Mason on this Album.

The entire band really performs on this album. The entire album was cut "Studio Live", which meant that only background vocals were added after the initial sessions. This was the way the band sounded in concert, with the studio used only as a vehicle to make sure we could hear everyone clearly. Joe Braus was the Engineer, and the mission was well accomplished.

It was during this time period that the California Country Music Association in Los Angeles nominated Don McNatt for Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year for 4 straight years. He won the Male Vocalist award in 1991, and again in 1993.

One of the songs from this Album "Act of Congress" was used by Ross Perot, playing in the stadiums for his campaign rallies for President of the United States.

Another song from this album " Almost Holiday" was featured in the feature film " Four Day Shoot".

So, this Album offers you the Male Solo Performer, and songwriter in a rare format. Playing with a band that's really a band, as opposed to studio players, with great skill, but perhaps not that family feeling in the music that comes from everyone in the band investing in the sound and trusting the sound of those around them. These great players weave a comfortable basket to lay these songs in, and never collide. Parts of the Album Don calls" Ragabilly". Some of the fun on this CD is some pretty ragtime influenced country music.

Some of these songs are for laughs, and others came with tears. There's real joy in this CD. We hope you'll enjoy it.
