Album Notes
Donna DeLory’s bliss-kissed interpretation of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” is the first track from her forthcoming new album, The Unchanging. A sultry conga groove, swirling synths, plaintive sitar and Donna’s own divine voice take this pop spiritual classic to a whole new realm. Chilled-out mantra magic transports this classic tune straight into the 21st Century, while the boundless grace and profoundly felt devotion of Donna's vocal performance are infused with the endless yearning for Divine Union that compelled the contemplative Beatle to write the song.

“This is the first chant I ever sang as a little kid,” she says. “And on some vibrational level it’s stayed with me ever since. For me, the song is a connection . . . a bridge between the chanting world and the pop world. I’ve always been inspired by the way George Harrison brought his spiritual path to the forefront of his music.”

Donna first performed the song at a recent Bhakti Fest, spontaneously deciding to sing it for the audience. “We totally improvised it,” she says, “and it got recorded on a video camera. I got the audio from the camera and built the whole track around a loop I made from the groove that was heard at Bhakti Fest. At the beginning of the recording, you can even hear the audience going ‘yeah! Woo-hoo!’ So it has awesome energy. I want people to dance to this."

"My Sweet Lord" is just one track from The Unchanging. Occasioned by the recent passing of her father, it is one Donna's most personal, life-affirming and heart-rendingly beautiful recordings to date.

One of the foremost and much-loved artists in the burgeoning yoga music movement, Donna De Lory is world-renowned as a singer, songwriter, producer and musician. She is dedicated to consciously creating music with a positive message. Acclaimed as a background singer and dancer for Madonna during six international tours, De Lory has continued to delight and inspire worldwide audiences as a solo artist. A devoted student of yoga and spiritual teachings, Donna is inspired by Indian devotional music, Sanskrit mantras, Western pop, Northern African grooves, as well as dance beats from her travels around the globe. Her music has been described as "a highly danceable mixture of gorgeous singing, irresistible beats, and spiritual grace." Her genre-defying albums are deeply personal, yet carry an uplifting, universal message, easily accessible to even casual listeners. Music has always been a catalyst in Donna’s life, "It is my yoga, it connects me to the Divine".

Donna's previous CD release Remixes received this glowing review: "the light at the center of this swirling universe is the crystal clear heart- opening sound of Donna De Lory’s exquisite voice, which draws listeners to the inner realms while the electronica grooves keep the head nodding and the body swaying. Her intention was clear: to create music that brings forth a feeling of oneness with all things, and takes us back to a place of innocent joy and freedom."

The Unchanging is Donna's new album, a heartfelt, meditative reflection on the passing of her father, the legendary session musician. producer Al De Lory. Like much of her recent work, it masterfully marshals the compelling rhythms and beguiling textures of contemporary pop and electronica as a setting for Donna's exquisite voice, which possesses a profound power to touch the heart deeply while calling the mind to the highest universal truths.

"I Really Want to See You ..."
“My Sweet Lord” revives the beloved George Harrison classic with five minutes of the most blissfully mixed version you can imagine. Overflowing with longing, devotion and pure essence, the song is carried by Donna’s magnificent voice — never sounding better — and a widescreen musical collage of sensuous sitars, gliding guitars, rhythmic waves, funky beats and layered choruses of the refrain “I really want to see you…”. Riffing off her own ever-expanding vocals Donna expresses the full leeway that is hers alone, rising into a “Hare Krishna” climax that lifts right into the heavens above.
