Cup of Blood

by Donna Washington

These hair raising tales are not for the faint of heart. From a witch who spins off her skin to a shape changing fox who skins young girls alive, most of these stories contain at least a cup of blood.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I love ghost stories! This is a collection of tales that let me indulge the darker side of storytelling. I put this collection together for the students in middle school and high school who wanted something with more teeth than the Little Shiver, an album I released almost ten years ago. So, here it is. The Brewery of Eggshells is about what lengths a women will go to in order to get her child returned from the land of the 'good folk'. It involves a violent attack on a fairy boy. Mr. Fox is one of the folkloric serial killers who stalks the land looking for sweet, tender young things to lure into his clutches so he can skin, scalp and drain them. The Boo Hag is a modern day haunt who still terrorizes the dreams of children up and down the coast of South and North Carolina. If you travel in those areas, you'll see homes with blue paint around the windows, blue ceilings over the porch and whole houses painted blue. It is to ward off the Boo Hag, or 'The Hag', as the folk in those areas call her. The Lover's Promise is an original piece written by my son. It makes me worry about the sorts of things that are going on inside his head. If you want a little bit of creepy in your life, give these tales a try!
