ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After recording 'Sister Grinch' for the Lions Gate Chorus in Vancouver a few years ago, I was inspired to create an album around her character. Sister Grinch herself takes a journey through song, from her gritty, jazzy anthem through sweet boppy toe-tappers and heartfelt ballads, stopping along the way to marvel at the silence of freshly fallen snow and to commiserate on the drudgery of shopping for gifts. She meets a few familiar characters in Rudolph, Frosty and Charlie Brown, but leaves her mischievous mark on their music, and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite and Jingle Bells get twisted together to great comic effect. It's fair to say that by the end of her musical meanderings Sister Grinch's heart HAS grown three sizes, and she offers her sincere wish to you for the holidays: friendships long, family near, and joy be with you all.

Though it's my voice you will hear, there are others to acknowledge. My husband, Dr. Philip Grant, has rather ferociously encouraged me to produce this album for several years, and I thank him for his support and belief in me. Carole Prietto's skillful handling of copyright and licensing lightened my mental load considerably, and I'm so thankful. My brothers, Tom and Mark, both generously lent their voices to round out the album with some mellifluous male resonance; you'll hear Mark on Christmas Time Is Here and Tom on the final track, Joy Be With You All. Ty Philips at Pixarola brought his meticulous artistry to our Grinchy photo shoot and captured the images you see; Yvonne Meyer of Meyer Print Graphics turned my sketchy design ideas into the beautiful art you're holding; and Brandon Guyton's audio engineering gave the tracks a stunning professional shimmer. A solo album is really a team effort - thank you all.
