2. FREE by Do & Camilo Estrada, 2015
Free was originally a written as a techno dance tune. Camilo added a bass line which caused me to rework the song into its current style.
Do – Vocals, Guitar, Electronics, Percussion; Camilo – Bass; Kirk – Banjo, Vocals; Mike Smolker – Congas; Zoe – Vocals; Terry Burgess – Vocals; Camille Campbell – Vocals.

3. SIMPLE DANCE by Do, 2015
Celebrating living more simply. The lyrics reference the shaker hymn “Simple Gifts.” Do – All instruments.

4. BIG BASS STRING by Do & Alex Stemm-Wolf, 1988
We wrote this song while were students at Oberlin College. Alex wrote the main guitar riff; I wrote the lyrics and bridge.
Do – Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Percussion; Kirk – Banjo.

5. OH VALERIE by Do, 1980, 2015
A sentimental favorite, the 2nd song I ever wrote. This recording was done using one mic and in rustic conditions, the way I used to record when I was a teen. The last two verses were re-written recently. Do – Vocals, Guitar.

6. JESU by JS Bach, Arranged by Do & Kirk, 2014
I first learned this piece on classical guitar and then pitched it to Kirk, who took it and ran. The vocal, in German, features mother/daughter Jeanne Morefield (Alto) & Anna Apostolidis (Soprano).
Kirk – Banjo; Do – Guitars, Tenor, Drums, Bass, Percussion; Mike – Congas, bongos.

7. RAIN (An American Song) by Erik Pearson, 1989
A song about forgiveness from my friend, Erik.
Do – Vocals, Guitars, Percussion, Electronics; Camilo – Bass; Kirk – Banjo; Zoe – Vocals; Terry – Vocals; Camille – Vocals.

8. ON MY WAY 2 GEORGIA by Do, 2015
A man travels to make his fortune in Savannah Georgia, where his African ancestors lost everything. Do – All Instruments.

9. MATH WRAP by Do 1987, 2015
Being a math nerd from the Bronx (birthplace of rap), I felt compelled to celebrate this interest & background in an old school style rap. Do – Vocals, Guitar, Looper, Percussion, Claps; Camilo – Bass; Mike – Congas; Lori DeGloria – Vocals, Claps.

10. NATURE BOY by Do, 2015
Some inhabitants of city parks suffer from unmanaged mental illness and poverty. We can do better.
Do – Vocals, Guitars, Percussion, Claps, 6-hole flute; Terry – Shouts, Vocals, Claps; Camilo – Bass; Mike – Congas; Kirk – Banjo, Vocals; Jeanne – Vocals; Zoe – Vocals; Tracie Nettles – Vocals, Claps.

11. TAP & GRIND (Dentist’s Song) by Do, 2015
Inspired by a dental visit, the words “tap & grind” uttered by my dentist (temporary cap seating) almost begged to be made into a song. During the follow-up visit the dental assistant’s instructions “squeeze & hold” (permanent cap seating) sealed the deal. The motorized dental tool audio samples were taken from my dentist’s examination room. The flute-like, organ sound is actually tuned drills. Do – All instruments, Motorized dental tool samples

All songs written, arranged & produced for Bass String Records by Do Peterson, except for JESU written by JS Bach, and arranged with Kirk Van Scoyoc; RAIN written by Erik Pearson; BIG BASS STRING written with Alex Stemm-Wolf; FREE written with Camilo Estrada; All Photos taken by Gari Watkins. Graphic Design by Chris Munson. Mastered by Barry Corliss at Master Works, Seattle, WA
