Album Notes
Doris Spears of 9 Fold Muse could easily be the musical daughter of a Blues royalty merger between Billie Holiday and Muddy Waters. Her singing and songwriting is honest, raw, searing and soulful. Watching and listening to her ascend the same heights and beyond is a rare and welcome treat.

Pam Morita

9 Fold Muse is blues for grown folks which means it encompasses the entire range of human emotion and experience, from the depths of depression to the heights of wondrous love, from the shadows of voodoo magic to a prison cell way down South; the music draws the listener in with these powerful images. Doris Spears, formerly "The Duchess" becomes the queen of blues; her penchant for telling a story from the heart is ever so clear and her delivery is an extension of herself--soulful, sultry, and thought-provoking. This band rocks and gets to the root of what ails ya with searing guitar and saxophone solos, a driving rhythm section, and playful/soulful harmonica accompaniment. This one is a winner!

Blues singing at its Best
Love the way Doris Spears sings the Blues. The lyrics are moving and sang to perfection. I'm really enjoying this CD and recommend it highly.
