Album Notes
Dance in the Clouds is a project that was conceived with the listener in mind, but also with the dance community in mind because it easily lends itself to use in expressive movement, especially since there is so much emphasis on percussion and rhythms. While piano is the featured instrument, bass, sax, trumpet, and flugelhorn are also featured on many of the songs. Some of the tunes were composed in Japan or from ideas conceived after performing there in the Summer of 2010. We call this style New Taste Jazz.
NEW TASTE JAZZ is a concept of incorporating various rhythms, harmonies, and melodic ideas from various genres, eras, different regions of the world, or completely original ideas, in order to keep the music moving forward and interesting. Jazz has been a very innovative forum at many times in the past, so why not return to that spirit, especially if it has the effect of drawing a wider audience. Please take a listen to it. Thank you & Domo Arigatou!
