Album Notes
This is what Blues Matters Magazine had to say about Oregon singer/ songwriter Doug Warner's previous CD "Fading Gracefully"...."This is a handsome tribute to over forty years of multi-talented Doug Warner's music. Warner has a warm and engaging voice, which perfectly suits the down home nature of these compositions.... "Time To Get It Right" with it's Tony Joe White feel, is wonderful !" With his newest CD, "Sail Me Away", Doug is creating an even fresher new voice in original blues music, matching haunting and whimsical Dylanesque lyrics with traditional and cutting edge acoustic blues, soul and ragtime. He has been at it for over forty five years, a master bluesman with an original voice, playing slide, blues harp and acoustic guitar. Here's a little taste of his lyrics....

Cross that field with a broken tooth knife
Coal shack evil eye
Lay me down on a red dirt road
Dead end satisfied
Holler my name from the top of the hill
Lock me in the killin' cell
My last breathe on a Bb blues
Take me down
Take me down
Down to the witchin' well.

"Sail Me Away" is Doug Warner at his very finest, spinning tale after tale of syncopated intrigue using his own version of the Delta fingerpicking styles of the old masters of the blues. Think Tom waits meets Blind Willy McTell and you get a sense of the pleasures awaiting the discerning listener. Give a listen!
