Album Notes
Drew Mowell’s future in music developed early in life. Born in April of 1982 in New York, he sang his way through childhood. Then, at age fifteen, Mowell bought a drum-set and was quickly immersed in and fascinated by the world of percussion.

By his sophomore year of high school, Mowell was living in Indiana and had put together a five-piece band. It was at this point when Mowell, the band’s drummer and lead singer, developed his skills as a songwriter. Quickly, the band's success and musical growth became a personal passion.

In time, this passion matured and Mowell itched to create and perform on his own. By 2000, the band had split, and he had purchased his first acoustic guitar. With this, Mowell submerged himself in the creation of his own music and his own style. Constantly practicing, writing lyrics, and drawing inspiration from artists such as Counting Crows, Dave Matthew's Band, and Ryan Adams, he spent much of his time enthralled with the intricate relationship between chords, percussion and voice. Because of this, the music for his first CD was soon completed.

Soon after, Mowell purchased a digital 8-track recorder. In September of 2002, Sounds from a Wooden Bomb Shelter made its debut. The eleven-track, full-band compilation tells stories of love that healed and love that harmed, of an ache for worldly exploration, and of life's milestones along the way.

Most recently, Mowell spent the summer of 2005 in Washington, where he recorded his newest album, Seattle, with musician Evan Middlesworth. With a greater variety of instruments, new manipulations of sound, and fresh, closely-knit harmonies, Mowell’s newest album is stunningly complicated. Seattle, which was released in early February 2006, is Mowell's best work to date.

Today, Mowell is busy being heard at college bars and venues across the nation. With two albums under his belt and inspiration for a third, this avid musician has set the stage for more to come.
