Dropmore Scarlet

by Dropmore Scarlet

Big sounds; big guitars, big reverb, big vocals, big swoopy. Something retro meets something insanely contemporary.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dropmore Scarlet's style is not easily classified. "They have the ability to rock out like Blondie or Echobelly ('Pretty Lip'), pull a jazzy Brazilian twist, a la Basia ('Lately'), head into Afropop ('Love and Light') or '80s Britpop ('Jake' will grab Housemartins fans by the neck!) and leap head-first into tempo and stylistic acrobatics ('Record Skip')." - Bobby Tanzilo onMilwaukee.com

"Few bands possess the instrumental intelligence and raw talent to leapfrog multiple genres in a single album and retain enough individual identity to look back and smile. Dropmore Scarlet is one of the few." - Matt Richter Shepherd Express

The members of Dropmore Scarlet include Kari Bloom (lead vocals), Kristen Kakatsch (guitar, drums and backup vocals), Laura Proeber (bass) and Ginny Wiskowski (guitar, drums and backup vocals).

WOW!
I first heard this album about a year ago and have spread to word to many friends. It's simply PHENOMENAL! I can't believe they're not yet getting airplay in Chicago. The lead singer's voice is incredibly versatile and a pleasure to hear. Dropmore Scarlet is a breath of fresh air in today's music scene.

Great range on musical styles in a pop context.
This band dables in a number of styles yet every tune sounds like Dropmore Scarlet. There are some great harmonies on this CD and plenty of memorial hooks and melodies. I've had to privledge to catch this band live a few times in the Milwaukee area and each show is stronger than the last. This CD is in my regular listening rotation. Can't wait to hear another realease from this group. Virgo should be on the radio now!

Awesome original sound! Can't get enough of it!
I put this CD in my car one year ago and have yet to take it out. I never tire of it!!! Kari Bloom's voice continues to give me goosebumps each time I hear it, especially on haunting songs like "Long Run" and "Lovin' You". In addition, bandmates, Laura Proeber, Kristen Kakatsch and Ginny Wiskowski show exceptional talent through their musicianship and songwriting skills. Go ahead...just TRY listening to "Virgo" or "Super Sizin'" in your car WITHOUT bobbing your head and singing along like a fool...it's impossible! These girls ROCK!!!

Brilliant
Absolutely gorgeous! Every track on the album is a joy to hear, and it's an eclectic mix that I have yet to go searching for something else for the CD player.

Diverse, Original, Creative! Dropmore Scarlet is a band to watch
Dropmore Scarlet's self-titled debut has very diverse collections of songs and yet still manages to keep a cohesive and original band identity. I have been fortunate enough to see this band live and was equally impressed. They are the real thing! Definitely a band to watch!
