Back in the Day

by Druidsong

For this album, DruidSong returns to the 1960s and the songs he performed on the "coffee house circuit." Some are well known, others are less well known. I had a LOT of fun recording these, and hope you have as much fun listening.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The name of the album reflects a lot about it. "Back in the Day", I played on in coffee houses, performing the folk music that was popular at the time. It was a good time in many ways. My generation believed firmly that we could make a difference, and the music of the time reflected the fact.

We sang about civil rights and freedom, We protested the war in S.E. Asia. We believed in and fought for equality for ALL men, regardless of race. We saw things that we thought were wrong, and strove to make them right, be it at the polls, corporate greed, "adventures" in lands that weren't ours and a host of other things.

It wasn't all about "fixing things", though. There was time for love and fun. Songs like "The Marvelous Toy", "Puff, The Magic Dragon" and "The Cat Came Back" are about childhood and the happy times. "Kisses Sweeter than Wine" and "Last Thing On My Mind" are about love and living.

All in all, it was a good time to be alive. Things were changing. A generation had found a voice. We believed we could make a difference in the world, and we believed we knew a good way to live. Our music reflected those beliefs.

I had a lot of fun recording these. It was great to revisit my youth and the music I sang then. I hope you have as much fun with these as I did.
