ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Four Times the Malt was recorded at a time when the band had not yet decided to play for anyone outside of the basement. After an evening of Huber bock, the band commandeered the stage and equipment at a local club and played the album in order. The six song demo cassette tape found its way from tape player to tape deck across the country and outlived its original media format. Born in analog, its been repackaged and sonically remastered nearly 15 years later.

The cover art of Balls, Sweat and Beers best describes the feel and times–a flamed hot-rod, immersed in a pitcher of beer, held aloft only by the displacement of champagne bubbles from below. It was this full-throttle, savage lifestyle that led to late night burn outs, rifle reports, and tours planned from compound bow shots into an apartment wall map. Not included on the original release was Four Times the Malt, originally released on cassette tape only in 1995.

Aptly named Balls, Sweat and Beers - the album was titled after a 20-minute impromptu live set necessitated by the drummer abandoning the stage due to a near fist fight with the singer only 6 songs into a packed show. The guitar player retreated to pitchers of rum & coke at the bar while the singer picked up the kicked-over drums, made good with the crowd, and made rock with the bassist.
