ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The music of traditional band Duach (fiddle, flute, guitar, and bodhrán) honours the deep-rooted traditions of Irish instrumental music with a variety of jigs, reels, hornpipes, and the singing tradition through songs in both Irish and English. The members of Duach also bring with them an impressive wealth of musical and collaborative experience, which represents a well-informed blending of traditional and contemporary influences. Fiddle player Sean Regan has toured and recorded with with Sharon Shannon, Sean Keane, Damien Dempsey and the Dublin Legends. Guitarist John McLoughlin has toured and recorded with Mary Black, Lisa Lambe and Damien Dempsey. Flute player and bodhrán player Éamonn de Barra has toured and recorded with Paddy Keenan,Slide, Dónal Lunny, deBarra (Family group), Tom Jones and Damien Dempsey. The addition of skilfully executed and highly entertaining mouth-music which draws on the older tradition of portaireacht béil, further ensures a varied programme, representative of the ethnic traditions of Ireland, while the inclusion of guitar accompaniment and harmonic arrangements reflect the development of Irish traditional music in the 20th century.
