Through this DuckTapeTicket played on the main stage of the Leverkusener Jazztage in november 2014.
A grooving string trio and a duck. What should I make of it? A soundmixture of jazz, rock, folk music and pop, with an unmistakeable hint of groove...
Or in other words: It was a beautiful summer night in the shadowy pools of Central Park when, for the first time, a duck eyed the curious wooden object that had landed in the water with the singing of strings an a great splash. At this time, the duck knew little about the wild jazz parties in the posh appartements around it, and even less of the heart-rending scene that had ended with the viola player throwing his instrument out of the window before swearing - but that is another story for another time. The duck, that much is certain, soon became a sought-after bebop soloist in Harlem night clubs, then played in a few Hippie era rock bands before moving to Europe in the seventies and challenging the greatest jazz composers to diving contests. Finally, she took a promising string trio under her wing and together they are surfing the waves of grooving strings.
DuckTapeTicket is inspired through workshops by wellknown improvising stringplayers as Zapp4 (NL), Jasper LeClerq (NL), Oene van Geel (NL), Adam Baldych (PL), Andi Schreiber (A), Oriol Saña (E), Stephan Braun (D), and Ernst Reijseger (NL).
The trio was founded in 2009 during the jazz studies with Michael Gustorff in Cologne (D) and Arnhem (NL). The three musicians had already met in 2004 at the string bigband Bluestrings (Leader Frank Wunderer) nearby Munich. This band became very successful and played e.g. at the Bayrisches Jazzweekend Regensburg and won several prizes at the competition Jugend Jazzt.
