Duffy King
Guitarist / Singer Songwriter,Composer / Producer

Energetic, kinetic grooves, driving rhythms, searing, blistering leads, finesse and feel are words that have been used to describe Duffy's style of electric guitar playing. Hailing from Detroit, with twenty years of professional experience, Duffy has toured throughout the world and done numerous studio sessions including nationally televised ads as well as major label releases that have been nominated for Grammy Awards and Billboard Magazine awards. These accomplishments have earned him a reputation as a top caliber guitarist, who has played with an array of world class musicians. Well versed in all styles of playing, Duffy is best known for his potent Jazz/Rock and R&B/Funk chops.
Duffy's talent doesn't stop with playing guitar. His song writing skills have won awards in Billboard Magazine's Songwriter's Contest, Marlboro's National Talent Search, and received acclaim for his solo release, Livin' for the Big Time, which charted in the top 10 on many radio stations throughout the midwest region. In addition to playing the guitar, Duffy also performed vocals and produced the 1994 Detroit Music Awards' R&B Record of the Year, "Bootleg" and 2003 Detroit Music Award Nomonie, "Smokin' Live" , by the Bugs Beddow Band. Duffy personally has been nominated in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003 for Outstanding Guitarist in the Rhythm and Blues Category and his 2002 CD release, "Solo Guitar Christmas", was nominated for Record of the Year in the 2003 Jazz Catagory.
As a vocalist, Duffy was a 2003 Detroit Music Award Nomonie for Outstanding Vocals in the R&B catagory. Also in 2003, he sang on two National Chevrolet ads for both television and radio.
Throughout 1995 and 1996, Duffy knocked 'em dead at each performance on a worldwide clinic/promotional tour for the Gibson Guitar Corporation. As a Clinician / Product Specialist, he is able to combine musicality, humor, fun and information to create an entertaining and productive clinic / performance that transcends language barriers. Other companies that Duffy has performed clinics for include, Yamaha Guitars and Amplifiers, Egnater Amplification and Rocktron.
Duffy laid the guitar tracks on the 1996 release, Reim 3 , by gold and platinum international Polygram artist, Matthias Reim, who also is a two-time recipient of World Music Awards. For two consecutive years, Duffy gave show stopping performances as a, main stage, featured artist at the South Florida Guitar Show - one of the United State's largest guitar shows.
Additional adventures in Duffy's diverse musical career include, composing the music for independent filmmaker Jennifer Machiorlatti's short film, The Maiden's Mirror. (2001). Producing, and performing the music for two National Chevrolet ads. Dear Duffy, this is a rather facinating release-
a one-man-and-an-electric-guitar album of Christmas carols! I hope to get your album in timefor Christmas; it's that good!

as the cd started spinning in my jeep. i thought ..."what a kewl idea" the magic that you had captured was that of your own style, which in this day and age seems to be lost at times. the guitar playing was supurb (harmonic notes) were very well placed . i will enjoy this cd for many years to come. thank you! regards,

Dear Duffy,
I've been hearing about you for sometime from my friend Lorie. When Lorie came down to Florida during the holiday she brought your solo guitar CD to me. I absolutely love it!! Your style reminds me of Lee Rittenour(whom I've loved for a longtime.) Your interpretations of the Christmas songs are soothing yet entertaining. I look forward to hearing more of your music.
I just wanted to drop a line and let you know how much I enjoyed your Solo Guitar Christmas Album. Your mom sent one to me and it has been my favorite record during the holiday season. I've played it for all my
family and they join me in thanking you for such a memorable music experience.

Hi Duffy,
I read about your CD in the Straitsland so I hurried up and bought it. I absolutely love it. All the kids like it too. I have been playing it all morning in my classes at ILHS and tell them all about you.
Have a nice Christmas.

A very tasteful Solo Guitar Christmas!
Duffy King has done what is hard to do; make a solo guitar record that holds your interest!
With interesting reharmonizations of familiar tunes and solid timing and technique, he's really got a winner here!

If you like guitar and even if you don't...this is a winner..

I recommend it.
