Album Notes
Continuing the strategy from his first Startlingly Fresh Records album, 2014's "Alligator Wings", poet/philosopher Duke Way imparts his wisdom through poems, narratives, incantations, shaggy dog stories and even manages to sing an original tune while he's at it. His percussion and pan flute skills aren't too shabby, either.

This "word jazz" album is strongly influenced by the genre's godfather, Ken Nordine, as well as post-bop hipster Mose Allison, poets/gadflies Allen Ginsburg and Lawrence Ferlenghetti, and even current all-around weirdo Tom Waits.

Duke's beat philosophy is accompanied by fellow Startlingly Fresh Records artists Rolling Jazz Revue, Trio El Camino, Keith Taylor Trio and bassist John Onder, along with session players Emily Bodnar on theremin, Steve Motz on tenor sax, Billy Bargetzi on trombone, Richard Campbell on trumpet, Blair Breitreiter on woodwinds, Nikki Russell on tenor sax, Walter Robinson on tenor sax, Gus Arnold on alto sax, Judy DiMaso on bari sax, Eric Rogers on tenor sax, Tom Barker on harmonica and Terri Cavender on flute.
