Album Notes
San Francisco-based Duo Bohème is a flute/guitar duo featuring flutist Courtney Wise and guitarist Lyle Sheffler. Sheffler, a New York native and Wise, a bay area native, met in 2010 at the San Francisco Conservatory where they both were pursuing Masters Degrees. After numerous acclaimed solo performances around San Francisco and the Bay Area, they decided to continue their successful concertizing together post graduation. Driven by their love of the music from Spain and Latin America, as well as the music in gypsy culture, Duo Bohème brings together exciting and romantic music from around the globe. From tangos to habaneras and everything in between, their performances are sure to have something for everyone. True to Duo Bohème’s roots, they have put together an eclectic new album, “Senza Misura” which consists of a wide variety of captivating repertoire. It leaves behind the classical norm and consists of an extremely diverse array of styles. This innovative album features works by Ravel, Faure, Giuliani, Shankar, Tedesco, Ibert, and Borne/Bizet. From Latin to Indian to operatic to romantic, these works are sure to delight.
