ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"From 27 to 51: Recovery of Modernity"

Around the mid-twenties, emerged in Spain, a group of poets and composers who influenced by Philip Pedrell and on the road layout by Manuel de Falla, will form a highly innovative artistic experience in our country. This is the so-called "Generation of 27" that can appropriately be applied to both writers and musicians, which will bring together all of them with the fortunate pretext of celebrating the fourth centenary of the death of D. Luis de Gongora. (1561 - 1627).

Dúo "Garcia-Esteban" plays a selection of three of the six Sonnets by Eduard Toldrá, originally written for violin and adapted here for clarinet and piano; an instrument whose versatility and color perfectly matches the character of the music. Montsalvatge has become the way to the future "Generation 51", starting the "road to modernity" with a change in language and structures, but always close to the mediterranean feel.

Duo "Garcia-Esteban" was created in 1996 and since then performed in Spain, France, Czechoslovakia. Holland, Italy, England, Argentina, Uruguay, Serbia, and the United States, playing in such prestigious halls as the Purcell Room in London, Salle Cortot in Paris and at Carnegie Hall in New York.
His repertoire includes works ranging from classic to until today, with special attention to spanish chamber music from all eras, especially the twentieth century and the current period.
