ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dick Durham, pianist, arranger, composer, plays in a style reminiscent of Oscar Peterson, Teddy Wilson, Peter Nero, Bill Evans, and..himself. A strong believer in "melody, harmony, and rhythm", Dick Durham"Creates a Jazz that IS!"-Phila. Inquirer...."A Style approaching that of a quartet"-John Wilson, N.Y. Times.

Dick uses both hands, quietly AND raucously, and joyously. Ballads from his original musicals(adaptation of 'She Stoops to Conquer' and 'Celluloid') reflect
on the joy and pathos of life. His compositions earned him two separate Maryland Governor's Citations for excellence in the performing arts in 2003 and 2005.

From early recordings with the likes of famous bassist Richard Davis to appearances with Count Basie, The Morning Show, David Susskind Show and many others, Dick Durham has become the epitome of a solo pianist.

Dick's eclectic interests(Pianist, Composer, Writer, Electrician, Plumber,
Thermal Engineer) are evident in his approach to music, and life in general.

His arrangements of songs respect only the composer's intent and add reflections and additions meant to enhance the listener's experience. Like a good book, his well-rounded adaptations are listenable time and again.
