Album Notes
Donald Vega’s style and virtuosity on piano, along with his composing and arranging, mark this young artist as a unique and exciting presence in the world of jazz. His sound has been said to resonate with a touch of Oscar Peterson’s versatility and Bill Evans’ elegant lyricism.

Vega’s first album as a leader, Tomorrows, will be released July 2008 featuring Lewis Nash on drums and David J. Grossman on bass. Tomorrows includes six original tunes, showing us that Vega has evolved into both a creative composer and arranger. Tomorrows adds to a growing discography with Vega’s piano playing including Anthony Wilson’s The Power of Nine, Bennie Wallace’s Disorder at the Border, Jazz on the Latin Side’s The Last Bull Fighter, and Al McKibbon’s Black Orchid, to name just a few.

Vega’s recent competitive winnings include Down Beat’s 2007 jazz student soloist award and 1st place at the 2008 Philips Jazz Piano Competition at the University of West Florida and a composition featured on JAZZIZ\'s CD included in the October 2008 education issue of JAZZIZ.

He currently resides in New York and studies at the Juilliard School of Music with piano great, Kenny Barron. When he is not in school Vega can be found performing at local NYC jazz clubs including Dizzy’s, Jazz Standard, Smalls, and the Kitano or traveling abroad performing throughout Europe and Latin America.

top of the line
it is truly a joy to listen to donald's debut cd. his mastery of the keyboard is surpassed only by his improvisational creativity, which he applies to his compositions in a subtle and very tasty way. i've had the fortune not only to hear donald play live but also to meet him in person. he is a warm and friendly human being who has dedicated himself to music. no doubt he will continue to impress us with his virtuosity. i look forward to following donald's career and enjoying everything i know he will deliver.

Amazing Masterpiece
Listening to Donald Vega live is beyond amazing... I had the pleasure of hearing him live recently. Sometimes jazzers lose sight of their audience by forgetting to balance space, melodic sense and chops. Donald has chops to spare, but never ever loses his lyrical sense or dynamics. His expressiveness is unmatched. If you, as I did, have the honor of spending some time with Donald you immediately feel the same sensitivity in who he is as you do listening to him play. The CD has captured Donald's wonderful qualities. Not to be missed.....
