Album Notes
Philadelphia-area native Dylan McGuire is a singer and songwriter dedicated to keeping alive the spirit of intelligently crafted, guitar-driven pop/rock.

McGuire first gained notoriety in the regional music scene in the early 2000s with his band Broken Jones, whose independent release Better Days was put into rotation on modern rock FM radio in Philadelphia, Wilmington, Baltimore, and even Seattle. But as is the plight of many local rock bands, members move on, philosophies and priorities change, and McGuire decided in 2007 to release his follow-up album Another Chapter as a solo artist. The CD featured a slightly darker tone than Better Days, but generated local interest and radio play with the tracks “City Lights” and “Sullen Girl”. McGuire also hit a home run in 2009 with a number of his tracks from both CDs being featured prominently in the broadcasts of then-MLB Champion Philadelphia Phillies games on TV.

McGuire has recently completed tracking on his latest CD Gravity (Or Lack Thereof) with up-and-coming local producer Brett Talley (of IKE). The CD signifies a return to the upbeat, hook-laden sound of his earlier work and also prominently features McGuire’s lead guitar skills.
The music has elements borrowed from the jangle-rock/power pop of the Beatles, the Replacements and R.E.M., while also integrating ethereal guitar sounds inspired by U2 and Radiohead and even incorporating some occasional nods to McGuire’s Celtic roots. McGuire’s lyrics range from tongue-in-cheek (“Circus Friend”, “Sunny and 71”, “Tracy Likes”), to soul-searching anthems (“Wear It On Your Sleeve”, “Jack of All Trades”) to angst-driven breakup songs (“Chicago”, “Parking Lot”).
