ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Before Austin, Texas, became the live music capital of the world, before South by Southwest burst onto the scene, you could wander into Maggie Mae’s Irish pub on any weekend night and find a spirited crowd raising pints of Guinness while Eaglebone Whistle played on stage, bringing down the house. Formed in 1979, Eaglebone Whistle combined bluegrass, old-time string band music, Celtic melodies, and original compositions into a highly energetic and innovative mix. The band’s dynamic live shows won them a devoted following at clubs and festivals throughout Central Texas. In 1981, the band released their only album on Philo/Fretless Records. This collection of tunes is from an earlier demo recording. For over thirty years it’s been tucked away in a garage . . . until now. Happy listening!
