ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Champion" is a victory lap for Earleybird. Kevin came up and over lavish production he eloquently expresses himself through his rap style. Joined by underground DMV legend Substantial, they team up on the title track to affirm that love wins battles. Subjects on the album range from struggling to pay bills working multiple jobs while living under a capitalist society, to the similarities of being in love to being in a cult. Earleybird talks about his past working multiple jobs, from pushing shopping carts to shoveling snow. He pines over a friend locked in prison. He emphasizes the importance of dreaming and aspiring for better days despite obstacles. He produces the entire album, and his funky yet soulful sound accentuates the vivid, original rhyming style. He sets himself apart with the track "Feelings Remix", where he declares his survival over his bi-polar disorder and the disaster it caused his life. Now he stands as a true champion and this album embodies that ideal.
