East Winds Ensemble is releasing their third album of music from studio Ghibli after their previous bestsellers, it was time to record more of the beautiful melodies from studio Ghibli. this album includes some of the theme songs of the newer movies as well as your favorite songs from the older movies.
East Winds Ensemble is a New York based ensemble that performs modern and traditional Japanese music. The group has toured internationally and has recorded several best selling albums of the music of Hayao Miyazaki and the music from studio Ghibli.

Marco Lienhard mastered the Shakuhachi under the late Katsuya Yokoyama when he lived in Japan as a member of the legendary Taiko group Ondekoza (1981-1998). He is now the director of Taikoza and East Winds Ensemble and composes and performs for both groups. Marco Lienhard’ s music has gotten 6 nominations for the JPF awards. He was the Shakuhachi soloist for US premieres of the NYC Opera’s ''Kinkakuji'' and Hosokawa’s Voyage X with the Juilliard New Music Ensemble. Marco Lienhard has recorded more than 30 CD for Shakuhachi, Taiko and Fue. His music can be found on Taikoza.com, iTunes and the Nintendo Wii games: Red Steel 1 & 2. " An amazing Shakuhachi player Marco Lienhard has…truly a very gifted and wonderful sense of musicality. Not since " National Treasure" Yamaguchi Goro's rendition of Kinko Honkyoku music have I felt the need to listen to more of his music. His rendition of Honkyoku form the Watazumi style is incredible... His powerful and heartfelt rendition of Amazing grace reminded me of such gospel singers as Mahalia Jackson.” Hogaku Journal, Tokyo

“One can hear already in a single tone the sound of the whole cosmos,” Mr. Hosokawa writes, adding that the instrument evokes “the sadness and beauty of the past.” Marco Lienhard, a Swiss-born master of the Shakuhachi, did ample justice to these suggestions.” JAMES R. OESTREICH, New York Times

Yuki Yasuda was born in Japan and lives in Los Angeles. She has mastered the Koto under Tadao Sawai and Kazue Sawai. She has performed with East Winds Ensemble since 2009. She has performed internationally and has collaborated with many artists.
