Album Notes
After earning a Master of Arts in Music Composition I wanted to do something to prove my musical chops.

I had already written music for the U.S. Navy, Sacramento State jazz ensemble, Mora's Modern Rhythmists, John Peace Super Band, Hal Willis Band, Bones West, the Irvine Community Band, and numerous other groups.

I decided it was time to go into the studio and record some of my charts.

"The Rat On My Piano" was actually started as a demo, but I had so many compliments and requests to get a copy that I decided to release the CD instead.

I am the kind of person who likes variety and my CD reflects that; hence the group name "The Eclectophonics Jazz Ensemble."

This is an eclectic group of tunes with a variety of orchestrations and styles.

Each person I talk to tells me of a favorite tune, and it's seldom the same as the person before, which suggests each person's difference in taste.

So listen and enjoy. I'm sure you'll find a favorite of your own!

...Would Have Loved To Have Known The Rat...
Disc is a grand demonstration of fine writing and even better arranging, well worth the expenditure for Morgan's "Sidewinder" and Hancock's "Watermelon Man" which am sure, after listening, will forgive the misspelling. All of the musicians gel perfectly, complementing each other. Vibe playing is by far, some of the best of recent efforts. The vocalist, simply put, should not have been. She is outclassed by the writing and the arranging and takes away from what would have been a Five Star Effort. Listening to the Kentonesque arrangement for the Gershwin tune prepared me to hear vivid instrumental voicings, but was lashed soundly with weak phrasings from an untalented vocalist who was no match for any of the instruments. What a waste of such a fine arrangement.
Ergo - No Vocal - Truly Great Disc -
