ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jazz vocalist Edana Minghella pays homage to the queen of jazz, Billie Holiday, in her stunning second album, All or Nothing. Based on her sell-out show of song and story, Edana celebrates Lady Day’s emotional and unique take on the Great American Songbook with 11 tunes from blues to ballads, bringing a new twist to much-loved standards. Includes the sassy uptempo title track All or Nothing at All, a beautifully simple version of The Nearness of You with Argentinian guitarist, Guillermo Rozenthuler, a bold spoken-word, completely improvised Strange Fruit and a heart-wrenching Don't Explain. But Edana also takes lesser known work, such as Billie’s own Stormy Blues, and gives it a new lease of life with her sensitive, intensely moving vocal style. This is not an imitation album, an attempt to emulate Billie Holiday. This is an album where Edana takes each song and makes it her own. It's as if she has lived it.
All or Nothing features stellar musicians, including regulars Pete Maxfield on double bass and Lee Goodall (ex Van Morrison) on alto sax, Mark Edwards and Janette Mason on piano, Ben Reynolds on drums and percussion, Guillermo Rozenthuler on guitar. Produced at Quietmoney Studios by Grammy-award-winning James McMillan (who also plays trumpet and flugelhorn) and award-winning vocalist Liane Carroll.
