ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Edensgate

Enter through the great Gate, feel at home in the Garden of Eden, where you are embraced by a
magic world of sound enfolding multilayered colours of synthesizers with bitter-sweet mahogany-
guitars; a thick purring bass line and massive drums guide your steps.
A charming voice like crystal clear water is accompanying you on an exciting journey, singing
secret stories about you and me, souls who long for intimacy within unconditional acceptance and
an inspiring life of freedom.
What is captivating you the most, is the harmony of these irresistible melodies, that will not let you go for all eternity.

EDENSGATE is a music-project of the Viennese singer-songwriter Stefan M. Wittmann
The ambitious pop songs combine a „wall-of-sound“ post-britpop between Coldplay and
Maximo Park and catchy 80ies-melodies between a-ha and The Smiths.
The band was formed for the purpose a performance at an international songwriting-contest,
where they won the 3rd price.
Some concerts, that were quite cheered by the crowd, followed like the gig at the „Reigen“.

The coming debut album is the late, refined product of his deep love for music, which kept him going on through not only exciting, but also through partially enervating band-stories over incredible 25 years; beyond that he continued perfectioning his songwriting with euphoric diligence.
Therefore his experience and his creed „quality before quantity“ bring about the expectation of a
great work of art.

Besides of all that he also wrote songs with Robert Singerman (REM / tour agent), Alex Forbes (US-Top40 hit writer) and Duncan Townsend (opener for Katie Melua, duet with Nena) etc.

„You Take Me As I Am“, the awarded („Stimmfabrik-Studiopreis“) single is already available
on Itunes, Amazon (and many other online retailers etc.)
A second single, an EP and a music video clip will follow up, before the -by the fans long-awaited debut album will be released.

[BI0 / long version]

Intro

The last chord of his first single “You Take Me As I Am” is ringing out of his blue guitar; resounding applause
and cheering is emerging from the crowd at a small, but neat solo/unplugged-performance.
Stefan M. Wittmann was playing at larger venues with his band mates of EDENSGATE years ago, but
that evening he's got more peace of mind.
„your songs are great, they really should be played on the radio!“ said someone from the audience.

Album Project /Single

An awesome sing-along is the core piece of the awarded („Stimmfabrik-Studiopreis“) single.
This song is also the first track of his coming début album.
„it's almost more of a 'best of'- than a 'début' album with zero fillers – guaranteed !“ he remarks proudly.
The coming début album is the late, refined product of his deep love for music, which kept him going on through not only exciting, but also through partially enervating band-stories over incredible 25 years; beyond that he continued perfectioning his songwriting with euphoric diligence.
Therefore his experience and his hard work ethic bring about the expectation of a great work of art.

The Band EDENSGATE...-

Stefan was invited to an international songwriting contest in 2007. - Quickly he assembled a „temporary“
group out of his friends.
As this band promptly won a solid 3rd price, they were motivated to continue as a „permanent“ line-up.
Stefan Wittmann (Voc/Git), Christian Worisch (Drums) and Stefan Wegscheider (Bass) played (along
some guest musicians) some few, but marvellous concerts, where the gig at the „Reigen“ (hundreds of
enthusiastic people) was a highlight.
After the end of this line-up Stefan decided, that it was time to finally produce his début album.
(starting in 2011, at the “Green Island Studios“ with producer Sebastian Geisler)

Producer / Songwriting Camp

„Quality before quantity“ is the ambitious conviction - shared by producer Sebastian and Stefan:
Where other musicians may have already finished two or even more albums, both are revising everything
-despite of the strong song material- repeatedly, from the vocals to the compositions, until the work has
reached „perfection“. He met the producer at an international song camp, where both were writing songs
with great musicians (resp. business-pro's) like e.g. Mick Rogers (MMEB) , who played/worked with superstars (REM, Eric Clapton etc.)
As „fit as a fiddle“ Stefan could serve with his greatest talent, composing, and gained respect and admiration
for his skills in creating melodies.

Songwriting / Early Beginnings..

Whether there are good or bad times, with or without band: He's constantly writing songs...:
„my musical inspirations come as naturally as breathing. When it comes to song-tracks or ideas I soon got
about 1000 (!) ones of them stored in my PC..“
Already as a nine-year old boy he was a great pop-star .. in his imaginations: „I wrote about a dozen of
'song-titles' onto a piece of paper and just sang for each 'track' an improvised melody. Even today I still
remember the melody of the 'title – track' !“
In the 90ies he made his first experiences as a band leader and a singer-songwriter.
Starting with about the millennium he initiated or got involved into projects also outside of his bands,
like production & songwriting for other artists, a musical and a music academy.
In his band projects his preference for britpop (Travis,Coldplay etc.) influenced his music predominantly.

Presence & Future

„You Take Me As I Am“, the awarded („Stimmfabrik-Studiopreis“) single is already available
on Itunes, Amazon (and many other online retailers etc.)
A second single, an EP and a music video clip will follow up, before the -by the fans long-awaited début
album will be released in the end of 2016.
„Rome wasn't built in a day... we are working on this 'raw diamonds' to bring them to a shiny refinement !“
Stefan radiates with euphoric expectation, that 2016 will be the year of Stefan & his Band-Project
„EDENSGATE“ : „My objective is to find musicians, who share my enthusiasm for this project and also
have endurance.. I made a few breaks, but despite of it all I never really have lost sight of my vision...
You can give up a job or a project, but your passion will last forever!“
