Album Notes
Ed Putney is an Arizona native and his music reflects many aspects of the vanishing American west, with deep seeded roots in the southwest, he honed his ability of story telling through music, from experiences, legends and people of the southwest.
His music could probably be described as being geographical with story songs some written in a kind of transcendence to the past, while other songs tell of stories of a more modern west.
His haunting story of the lost Dutchman gold mine, in the legend of Jacob Walze, will make you feel like you've ridden a burro back into the Superstition mountains, and spent an evening around the campfire with the old Dutchman himself. C.J.

"This is my first album, it was hard to choose which songs I would record but these I feel, fit into the general flow.
CACTUS JACK just an Cowboy caretaker, born in the desert, around interstate 89 from Oracle junction to Florence, Arizona, it is the feeling you get when you get back home to a desert paradise.
RIDE BACK INTO THE MOUNTAINS, there's nothing like throwing a comfortable saddle on a good horse and head back into the mountains with a good friend a couple of frozen steaks, a bedroll and a few beers.
THE LEGEND OF JACOB WALZE this was one of those magical inspirations, born around a campfire around midnight, on a starry night upon the desert wind.
THE CEDAR TRAIL is one of my favorite places to ride. It brings back memories of my old friend Norm Clark, Riding that trail makes me feel like I've gone back in time 120 years.
COWBOYS ARE A DYING BREED I've known very few real cowboys in my life, this song is dedicated to those old boys as we rode, the stories that were told.
They will always be heroes to me.
DESERT SKYS Texas Canyon is more than just a place outside of Wilcox, Arizona, its where my Grandparents dated each other, or courted each other . It was an old dancehall on top of a huge rock, a popular place to go back in the 1920s and 30s, its gone now, just a few boards and nails and dusty whiskey bottles.
SHE DROVE A TRACTOR this song is part fantasy and part reality, and ill say no more.
CHARLEEN country girls have always had a special appeal, they are what sweet memories are made of.
HIGHWAY OF LOVE if I say so myself, a good song for the road especially after a relationship gone south, such was the case with my brother in law who suffered 3rd degree burns by women throughout his life , but finally found a keeper on the highway of love.
FOREVER AND ONE MORE TIME there's nothing like a beautiful day, and a beautiful woman with the wind blowing through her hair especially when she's your wife, and your best friend.
TURQUOISE BLUE sometimes all you need is a fast car and a family to come home to.
MOONLIGHT RIDER when you have hope and faith in your dreams nothing will stop you, where the shadows sigh and seem to say its only a hoof beat away."

Beautiful lyrics and tunes - the true feeling of the old west
Not twangy country-western music, but great western ballads and some rockin' tunes as well - Love It!
