Album Notes
Beverly Waltz Album – These acoustic instrumentals include elements of bluegrass, jazz, country blues, and Italian folk music. Each song has a beautiful melody, and each song has its own style and mood . Several of these songs have been featured on the West Virginia Public radio documentary series "Inspiring West Virginians". The songs are performed by me, accompanied by several distinguished guests. It was recorded at the studio of my friend, and two-time Regional Emmy award winner, Chris Purrington, in Albuquerque NM.

The "Wedding Suite" includes 8 instrumentals performed by a classical string trio and was recorded at the Sono Luminus studio near Berryville VA. These songs were played at my recent wedding. The theme of the music and the wedding was "country elegance" and they created a lovely musical accompaniment to our outdoor wedding at a beautiful country estate. The sheet music is available if you would like to include this music in YOUR wedding!

Here are the liner notes for the album, describing the background and feel of each song. I hope you will take the time to listen and I hope that you enjoy the music!

1. Going Down to Upperville: Written for the banjo after passing a road sign for Upperville VA. It is meant to evoke the excitement of an “old timey” trip from the countryside to the town.
2. Feeling Good: A light hearted jazz tune inspired by the innocent joy of Rocky, my collie, as he explored the springtime wonders of our back yard.
3. Parasails: The “sound track” of a Caribbean parasailing experience, with a latin jazz rythmn. It takes the listener on a musical journey from anticipation through the thrill of the flight and the relief of returning to the safety of the boat and sea level.
4. Coming of Age: Written in my late teens, with a new guitar solo that emerged spontaneously during recording. My first tune, and my favorite.
5. Road House Rag: A funky country blues that evokes the feel of a warm summer night at a roadhouse somewhere in the deep south.
6. Santa Fe Sunset: One of my happiest memories is sitting with my dad on the front porch of our hilltop home in WV, watching the sun set over the city. I wrote this in his memory, and moved the setting to the southwest when I recorded this song in Albuqueque NM.
7. Going Home: A happy banjo and fiddle tune that captures the joy of returning home after a long journey.
8. Memory of Lucca: My wife Trish and I were engaged in the Tuscan village of Lucca. This short tune is meant to capture nostalgia for that moment as remembered many years hence.

Wedding Suite – These original songs were arranged for our recent pastoral wedding by Jason Labrador, and performed by his classical string trio. The theme of the Suite is “country elegance”. 1. Morning Song: Inspired by a winter sunrise at the Grand Canyon, with a key change and big finish as the sun bursts over the canyon rim.
2. Santa Fe Sunset: Originally from the Beverly Waltz album, with a stately feeling in this arrangement.
3. Parasails: From the Beverly Waltz album, a latin jazz tune performed with a classical feel.
4. Have You Ever Been a Dreamer: A sweet and romantic tune that mostly wrote itself during a dream.
5. Evening Dance: As the wedding ceremony approaches, this song anticipates the joyful celebration that will soon take place.
6. Coming of Age (See Beverly Waltz notes) – was played by the trio as my daughter and I joined the wedding ceremony.
7. The Beverly Waltz: Named for Trish’s historic home town of Beverly, WV, it is a waltz in the tradition of the late 1800’s and was the bride’s processional and also the first dance.
8. Field of Daisies: A romantic waltz named for Trish’s favorite flower, it was the wedding recessional and second dance.
