ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Walk of Doubts is the latest album of the Eef van Breen Group; a Dutch ensemble founded by composer, trumpeter, singer Eef van Breen. Walk of Doubts is the most eclectic album the Eef van Breen Group made so far. The musical structure of the album is inspired by the idea of making a long walk through various landscapes and cities, as a symbol for all the different states of mind we, as human beings, live through. The musical story line of the album is based on an intense relation break-up:
The protagonist (listener) has just left the scene of a breakup. He is confused and emotional. His mind is racing from past to possible futures to the now. There are no answers, only thoughts. Walking is the only thing to do, for standing still will inevitably make his mind more unstable. Need to keep moving, where to? There are distractions of the mind, little side avenues, streets of other possibilities.

Eef: “We tried to capture the sound of our present reality in the music we make. In our world there is not just one kind of music; there’s good music, bad music, swinging music, improvisation, popsongs, car noise, people screaming, intens chamber-music etc. all sounds around us are relevant.

Line up Walk of Doubts
Eef van Breen: vocals/trumpet/flugelhorn
Eva Tebbe: harp/vocals
Amber Docters van Leeuwen: cello
Stathis Elio: double bass/electric bass
Christos Yerolatsitis: piano/harmonium/keys

About Eef van Breen
Eef van Breen is well known as a jazz trumpeter a singer, and as a composer of music for theatre and film and the repertoire of his own group: the Eef van Breen Group.
He draws inspiration for his work from classical music and other art forms, such as film, dance, poetry and theatre. His music stirs the imagination. The makeup of the group is just as astonishing as its repertoire. It uses various instruments that one would sooner expect in a chamber music ensemble than a jazz group. The group considers it important to continually renew itself, as can be seen from its last projects. With unexpected musical turns and everyday sounds, the listeners collective visual archive is being provoked.
