Album Notes
Eileen Tackney is a native of Maudabawn, Cavan. Her roots are in traditional Irish and classical music but works in many genres in her daily life. She is currently musical director of the Cavan Singers and organist and choir director in the Cathedral of Sts. Feilm and Patrick.
She is also an instrumental teacher and composes electronica music in her spare time as well as arranging - Song Sister’s ‘Just Listen’, ‘Anam Cara’ – Lord of the Dance’s Deidre Shannon, Aoife Murray, Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones among others.
Eileen arranges music and is also part of a harmony group Song Sisters who sing the music of the Andrew Sisters amongst other styles.

In 2013 she was noted as ‘One to watch’ in The Ticket of The Irish Times for her first album ‘South’, where she showed herself to be an ‘accomplished writer of soundscapes’. Music critics have noted, sounds like a cross between classic German electronica (Kraftwerk, Harmonia, New!, Cluster) and far more elements of ‘70s progressive rock.
She has since written a second album ‘Towards the Sun’ with Martyn Barker (Shriekback, King Swamp, Billy Bragg, Paul Ray Gibson) on drums and percussion and Jo Beth Young (Talitha Rise)on Vocals.
“Towards the Sun is more textured, far more contemporary in its outlook and clearly more refined. Tracks such as Sirens, Dogstar, Renewal are radio gold if only certain ears nationwide would listen, while the title track is quite simply a hit song waiting in the wings” Tony Clayton-Lea,The Irish Times.
