Album Notes
The project of composer Eldar Mansurov called “Bahramnameh” is dedicated to the memory of his father, Bahram Mansurov, famous Azerbaijani tar-player. As far back as 1967, his creative work attracted attention of general director of Institute of Musicology under UNESCO, Allen Daniel. As a result of collaboration with this trustworthy international organization, gramophone records of mugham with virtuoso performance of Bahram Mansurov were recorded in 1971 and 1975. In those years, it was a major event in history of Azerbaijan’s musical culture. Bahram Mansurov’s play significantly differed from other tar-player with its’ classic performance. Master’s creation became an integral part of national and global musical art’s treasury. Using records with Bahram Mansurov’s original play from different years, Eldar Mansurov created these compositions. Tar solo in this album was performed by Eldar Mansurov's brother - Elkhan Mansurov.
