Bio: Opera singer turned academic and singer-songwriter, Elías grew up variously in Germany, England, Greece, Honduras, México, and the United States, landing for the moment in the fertile musical environs of New York's Hudson Valley (Rosendale, Kingston, New Paltz), 90 miles north of New York City. Elías's music is defiantly trans-genre with a dream pop core. Their second studio record, XO, released August 24, 2018, features eleven tracks of pop, punk, and country songs. In addition to writing music, Elías is a scholar of gender, sexuality, race, and music, and Assistant Professor of Women Studies at Vassar College. Their research centers the singing voice as a sonic lens for contemporary transgender politics.
