Album Notes
Elise Bellew is most well known as the ethereal singer/songwriter for Nashville indie dream pop band The Mary Dream. The Mary Dream are known for their unique sound and style of vibey alternative pop rock, and have had numerous songs used on television, with prominent features on networks such as MTV, ABC, CBC, and more.

“Bellew Christmas” is the first solo recording from Elise Bellew, and features 5 classic Christmas songs with unique arrangements. Recorded and Produced by Elise Bellew and long-time friend, engineer and producer Michael Head in Nashville, Bellew Christmas delivers the same beautiful, vibey sound that fans have come to expect from The Mary Dream, only with intentionally sparser orchestrations to feature Bellew’s lush vocal tone.

Songs on Bellew Christmas include "Greensleeves", which was recently released as a stand-alone single in that it’s not exclusively a Christmas song at all. In fact, the original version of Greensleeves was written as a love song in 1580, and was later re-written in 1865 as the better known “What Child Is This”. Bellew’s version is an ethereal, folk-goth rendition of this 16th Century love song. Sarah McLachlan meets Radiohead on Bellew's ultra vibey, trance-like version of "Blue Christmas". Other songs include an upbeat, almost Mumford & Sons-infused version of "Winter Wonderland"; a Regina Spektor-inspired "Silver Bells"; and a Beatles-influenced "I’ll Be Home For Christmas".

Guest musicians include Ken Lewis on Drums (12 Years a Slave/Chris Cornell, Lana Del Rey, The Civil Wars), Blair Masters on Keys (Peter Frampton, Barry Manilow, Amy Grant), Mark Hill on Bass (12 Years a Slave/Chris Cornell, The Civil Wars, Kelly Clarkson), and Mike Payne on Guitar (Erin McCarley, Jordin Sparks, Plumb).

Bellew Christmas will be released in time for the 2014 holiday season. Fans of The Mary Dream will not be disappointed with this first solo recording from Elise Bellew.

The perfect not-so-Christmas Christmas EP!
From someone whose interest in Christmas music is tolerable at best with an ambiguousness and inconsistent interest in religion and holidays over the years, “Bellew Christmas” delivers! In many ways it belies the genre of Christmas music and is a refreshing departure with a re-purposed spin and take on not-so-Christmas-ish songs. As if a nod to Elvis, Elise’s alluring voice on classics such as “Blue Christmas” brings a touch of risque and naughty to the nice. “Bellew Christmas" is a very enjoyable listen and is the perfect not-so-Christmas Christmas EP :)
