Album Notes
Music may be serious business to Elizabeth Rose (www.elizabethrosemusic.com), but a sense of humor is definitely essential in her highly entertaining world. Take one look at her body of work: Her gift for combining songs, comedy, and commercial appeal is clear.

With her latest one-woman musical comedy show, the Equity showcase “If U Want Me, U Can Have Me, Right NOW!!!”, the NYC-based songwriter/singer/performer/ producer has shown that she can strike a chord with audiences – and keep them coming back. Performances for this bitingly creative show have been hosted at NYC’s famed Cherry Lane Theatre, Tech Amergin Irish Arts Center in Ireland, The Prospect Theater’s Dark Night Series, and have opened the Cherry Pit Theatre’s SOLO Fest.

Packed with 19 original songs, Rose’s “If You Want Me” propels audiences on an insightfully hilarious journey, coming from a musical family through the Vietnam and Woodstock eras clear to 2010. A roller coaster ride story about the life of a performing songwriter, Rose didn’t have to look too far to find inspiration: She’s lived every inch of it – experiencing amazing career highs, lower-than-lows, and everything in between.

Born into a musical family with professional connections that stretch from “Name That Tune” to David Letterman, Rose learned early on that singing and playing guitar wouldn’t just happen around the campfire. Blessed with a voice big enough to deliver the National Anthem at Shea Stadium, the six-string skills requisite to compose for TV (Discovery Channel, PBS) film (“Sex and the Other Man” starring Stanley Tucci), plus sing for Air America Radio, she’s equipped to provide musical messages to the world.

Critical reception of Rose’s growing body of work has been gratifying, to say the least.
“Leave Me Alone”, Rose’s witty music video featuring a sprightly cast of nonagenarians has been honored at the NYC Family Caregiver Coalition annual celebration, sponsored by Emblem Health. Her high-energy anthem of independence “I’m Too Beau’ful For You”, is on Elmore Magazine’s list of “Top 20 Strong Women Songs” since 1921, along with Aretha, Joni and Cher. Her original CD “Sleep Naked” is out now, garnering airplay in US and Europe and leading to a “Featured Artist” distinction on radio station WRIR-FM.

While everything may be adding up nicely, Rose’s ambitions to perform to, inspire and motivate a wider audience remain on the rise. She has her sights set on an Off Broadway run for “If You Want Me”, fueled by the conviction that this is a show with room to grow, and the potential to make a difference in the lives of theatergoers.

“‘A past master of repartee and ad libbing,’ -- that’s what my 7th grade teacher wrote on my report card and it’s been full speed ahead since then,” Rose notes. “I started writing stories from my life, and out came ‘If U Want Me, U Can Have Me- Right NOW!!’. This show is a culmination of an overextended adolescence stretching way too far into middle age. If I could stop this relentless need to express myself, I would -- God knows, I could use the rest.”

When you’re ready to stop and smell The Rose (sorry, we HAD to), don’t forget to look and listen. Her voice, message and musical mind are right on time, and when it comes to making a lot of people smile, it’s still true: Timing is everything. – David Weiss (http://dwords.com/wordpress)
