Album Notes
Evidence of Joy (2004) features fantastic live performances filled with energy, charm and wit. The album was recorded live at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre in Minneapolis. Ellis produced the recording with the help of eight incredible fans, the winners of the "In the producer's chair" contest. The CD features many old favorites and introduces four previously unrecorded songs. Ellis was joined by her long-time drummer Jennifer "JJ" Jones.

Ellis is a rising star on the folk music circuit, creating a buzz after being voted “Most Wanted to Return” and performing on the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival preview tour. This talented singer, songwriter and guitarist has since been invited back to several première listening rooms including Club Passim, Outpost in the Burbs, Caffe Lena, and P.A.C.E. She has also been asked to open for several established artists such as Patty Larkin, Richard Shindell, Cheryl Wheeler, and Todd Snider.

Known for her vibrant and open-hearted nature and contagious sense of humor, Ellis’ music is described as joyful, unpretentious modern folk with a slight hint of country inspired by her southern roots.

After moving from Texas to Minneapolis at age 16, Ellis got her start singing her own songs at open mics where she quickly dropped her often-mispronounced last name (Bergeron). She joined a rock band in high school while also setting up her own record label to put out her first solo CD Soft Day in 1996. She began touring full-time in 2000 and has independently sold more than 30,000 copies of her five CDs.

Ellis started performing the women’s festival circuit in 2000, with regular performances at the Michigan Women’s Music Festival and recently headlined the National Women’s Music Festival in 2006. She has since made her debut at several folk festivals in 2007, including the Loyalist City Folk Festival (Canada), the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival.

Although she tours nationally more than 130 dates each year, she continues to retain a devoted following in Minneapolis where she was voted Best Musician for five consecutive years and named 2007 Best Musical Artist by readers of the Minnesota Women’s Press. She is also a favorite on college campuses, and students recently nominated her as 2006 Best Female Performer in Campus Activities Magazine.

Ellis's music is insipiring, empowering and rejuvinating!
This CD is lively and entertaining. Not only does Ellis share her incredible musical talent through her moving song lyrics and guitar, she also shares hilarious stories and embarassing moments making the listener feel a little more... normal.
Ellis's live recording brings the fun of her concerts into your living, car, etc...
Buy it! You'll love it!!

amazing live, amazing album
I recently saw Ellis play live in Madison, and I found her energy amazing. I picked up her CD, not expecting the energy to be exactly easily translatable to the recorded medium. Was I wrong or what! Ellis's heart can't help but show throughout the recording.

My favorite Ellis Album.
This is a very intimate album. Live albums are difficult to pull off - I felt like I was at the show. Her laughter is infectious and sweet, and her jokes are goofy and real. She sounds like someone I could be friends with.

Evidence of Excellence!
Ellis is an independent singer/songwriter from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her latest full-length release, Evidence of Joy, is what every musician tries to come up with. Ellis' stories and experiences come through on every track including George Anne that is about the constant calls for a George Anne that Ellis doesn't know. Ellis' love of singing and her talent are clearly evident on this disk. Don't miss out! Buy this and every other CD by Ellis! You'll put them on play and never stop enjoying it!

Amazing Spirit Available Now...
This compilation CD is how I started my collection and my love for Ellis. It's a great starting point, but do be warned, ONCE YOU HEAR HER YOU CAN'T STOP LISTENING! The thought behind the production of this CD is enough to make it worth it; Ellis had her fans put this collection together! That's where her heart always is and it shows even more through these awesome live tracks of new and old songs.

Evidence of Joy is an amazing piece of work. Nothing captures this artist's talent more superbly than the live music featured on this album.

Incredible live compilation, doesn't hold anything back...
This CD is an incredible sample of "live ellis music". It illustrates her rapport with audience and why even old fans are inspired by her stage presence. With a total of 4 previously unreleased songs, it's not a typical live album...with the raw bonus track, she doesn't hold anything back!

A Great Mix of Tunes From an Exceptional Artist
Evidence of Joy has something for everyone... if you are in love, looking for love, or running away from love, there is a song on this album that will touch your heart and mind. If you are one of those people who would just rather see a live show, you are in luck, because this is a live album! Not only do you get the soul-shaking songs, but you get to hear Ellis' sweet laughter and stories in between. It is a great disc, and if you are new to Ellis, or just an old fan, it is definately one to add to your collection.
